TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH KILTS

Part of my heritage is Scottish (my grandmother is a Hamilton, and immigrated to Canada with her family when very young). I’ve long had a fascination with kilts and all things Celtic.

Why kilting?

In 2016, while I was living in Edinburgh, I became interested in learning traditional Scottish Kiltmaking.

This led me to take a professional level course in kiltmaking at the Edinburgh Kiltmakers Academy based out of a prominent Kiltmakers on the Royal Mile.  It was an amazing experience, and I learned a lot in a reasonably short period of time, gaining proficiency in several styles of kilts, as well as alterations and repairs.

What I do

I offer a fully bespoke kiltmaking experience. Each kilt takes up to 20 hours to make, and I offer a full consultation during which I explain the various steps of the process, discuss the options for making your kilt a truly one-of-a-kind garment, and how fitting works. When your kilt is delivered, I do a final fitting, go over how to properly wear your garment, and the appropriate accessories.

Looking to complete a total look? I can help you source the additional components of a complete outfit.

I can also make matching scarves and other textile accessories (for example, a piper’s plaid).

In addition, I undertake simple and complex alterations. I am also able to rebuild your heirloom kilt if it is possible.
